Grzegorz Hryciuk
The Polish deportees who arrived from the USSR were condemned for decades to a kind of selective memory. While they were possible, albeit rarely, to talk about the activities of the ZPP (Union of Polish Patriots) and their return to the country, sacrificial combat trail of those ‘from Lenino’, while their tragic experiences from 1940–1943 were subject to intentional oblivion, conscious forgetting. For decades, these remained their personal trauma, which they could only share with their loved ones, who had experienced the same fate as them.
