“We are all united by the memory of Siberia, where fate threw us, where we all spent the most glorious times of our lives – our youth! Out of necessity, we gave our work, our care and our feelings to this country.” The author of these words is Wacław Sieroszewski, a man who spent 12 years in Siberian exile. He spoke them on 4 July 1928 at Warsaw Polytechnic during the Founding Convention of the Sybiraks‘ Association, at which he was awarded the dignity of honorary member of the Union. The same honorary title, together with the first membership card, had earlier been awarded by the assembled Sybiraks to Marshal Józef Piłsudski.
