I Was a Shepherd There – Audio document

Marian Mikołaj Jonkajtys from Szczuczyn was deported by the Soviets to Kazakhstan on 13 April 1940, together with his family. A month earlier, the NKVD had arrested his father. When Marian and his family returned home in 1946, it turned out that his father had been shot by the Germans in 1944. Marian Mikołaj Jonkajtys recounts his experiences in exile and how he had to steal to survive in a story by Agnieszka Czarkowska from the Reportage and Documentary Studio of Polish Radio Białystok.
