Karolina Kaczorowska once said: “You should never lose your identity, because a man must know his roots; he must admit to who he is and try to be, no matter where he is, (…) a Pole – not be ashamed of that… He must never forget who he is, not be ashamed of that, and admit that he is a Pole. And they will respect him more…”. She brought this message from her family home, and her experiences during the time of war confirmed its obviousness.
