“There Must Be Something Left After Us” – The Story of Jerzy Seweryn Puciłowski (in Polish)

4/02/2025

The mini-documentary “There Must Be Something Left After Us” [Niech coś po nas pozostanie] is a story told by Jerzy Seweryn Puciłowski, who was arrested by the Soviets on 28 November 1944. He was held in the basement of a building on Ogrodowa Street in Białystok, brutally interrogated, and finally deported to Stalinogorsk in 1944. This is not only a collection of memories told in the comfort of the Museum’s temporary premises. It is also a story transposed to a place directly affected by the memories of the main character. Together with him, we wander through the now-changed surroundings; we learn about buildings that no longer exist, or we get to know the stories of the inhabitants of the Białystok housing estate Wygoda who appeared in Jerzy Puciłowski’s life.
