Klara – reportage (in Polish)

Deportation to Siberia changed her life. Klara Rogalska devoted it to selflessly helping others. For many years, she was an active member of organisations bringing together people deported deep into the Soviet Union and former residents of the Polish eastern territories annexed by the Soviet Union as a result of World War II (known in Poland as the Kresy). Without her persistence and determination, many initiatives could not have been organised. These were huge undertakings, such as the construction of the Tomb of the Unknown Siberian in Białystok or the expedition to Siberia to collect soil from the graves of those whose remains remained there forever. She also remembered her compatriots from the Kresy in need on a daily basis, when she travelled hundreds of kilometres across Belarus or Lithuania to deliver aid to them. Anyone who knew Klara knows that she never gave up on her resolutions and values.

We invite you to listen to Joanna Sikora’s reportage from the Reportage and Documentary Studio of the Polish Radio Białystok. On-air premiere of the reportage: 10 February 2025.
