Józef Jąkała came from Belz. He took his violin with him when his family was deported. They all ended up in Siberia. Thanks to this instrument, the Jąkała family was able to leave the Siberian taiga together with the first transport, as Józef’s daughter Marysia begged her father to give the Soviets his most precious possessions to be able to leave as soon as possible. The head of the village where they lived, touched by the courage of the girl, not only agreed to their departure, but also returned the instrument to its owner.
